I will never forget going to Positano for the first time, back in the Summer of 1985, and going into the batchroom at Bar International, after I got off the bus from ROme, that dropped us off right in front of Bar International. I grabbed my bags and went into the bar for an espresso and something to eat.

I went into the bathroom, and saw something similar to the picture above. The bathroom of the bar was built right into the mountain, and had the mountain rock as one of its walls. Wow, I thought. This is amazing.

After refrshing myself at Bar International, I grabbed my bags and made my way down to where my hotel was. I checked into my room at Villa Maria Antoinetta Pensione, and after taking a shower and dressing into some fresh clothes, I went down to the beach a bit, and explored the town.

That night, I had my first ever meal at Da Vincenzo’s on the Via Pasitea, Positano, and again, I saw the same thing. The building was built right into the montainside cliff of Positano. The picture above, is what I saw, one of the two dining rooms at Da Vincenzo. I met some of the family that owned the restauratn, Jesse and Victor, and I had a nice plate of Spaghetti Vongole and some wine, and I had a wonderful time, dinner that night at Da Vincenzo.
